January 29, 2013–– Visitors to the 22nd Winter Olympics traveling through Sochi International Airport can feel a little safer now. The airport is equipped with four AED Plus® units, should a traveler fall victim to sudden cardiac arrest, and airport staff have been trained in their use. Also on hand is a ZOLL AED Pro® for use by the airport’s professional responders.

The airport, servicing Russia’s largest resort city, is the first airport in Russia to have AEDs located in public places. The AEDs will also be there in the event they are needed for the huge influx of visitors traveling to Sochi when the city hosts the Russian Formula 1 Grand Prix from 2014 until at least 2020, subject to the circuit being ready in time. Sochi is also one of the host cities for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
