AED Plus Donated to Oakdale School in Memory of Jack Thomas

September 30, 2013 - In February last year, 15-year-old Jack Thomas of Caerphilly, Wales, passed away from sudden cardiac arrest whilst watching rugby at his girlfriend’s house. It was a shock to everyone. Jack was a very active teenager and had not complained of feeling ill prior to his collapse.
His parents, Grant and June Thomas, now are campaigning to get more AEDs into schools in the area through a dedicated fund in memory of Jack set up by the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
Adrian Waller, PAD Distribution Manager at ZOLL UK Ltd., attended Oakdale Comprehensive School on 30 September to present the Thomases with an AED Plus® to help support their campaign. Mrs. Thomas said, “This is what keeps me going. I just want to start getting AEDs in some of the schools.” In addition to campaigning for more AEDs, she is hoping to provide heart screening for the school next year in line with what would have been Jack’s 18th birthday.
